Let’s Have a Little Snack

We all like to snack, right. You know the feeling when you just feel like something but are not sure what.

At DietDitch we understand about the ‘4 o’clock flag’, that time in the afternoon when you are thinking about dinner but know that waiting until then just will not do – you need something and you need it now. So it is important to eat when you are hungry and to have something that is instantly satisfying.

Fat For Health

Since the fat free fad diets of the 1990’s everyone has been giving fat a bad rap. The desirable verses the undesirable fat seems to be a very confusing concept for many of us to understand.

Fat is fat right, don’t we need to avoid it all? The truth is we all need fat as part of a healthy diet, the trick is to chose the right fat. Eating  good quality fat in the form of olive oil, raw nuts, seeds and avocados is not necessarily going to make you fat, and on the other hand, eating too much ‘fat free’ food could easily make you fat.

Eating Out

Many people think they can not eat out on a healthy eating plan. If eating out is part of your everyday lifestyle as it is for many people, then it is important for us to appreciate that and help make the whole eating out thing manageable.

It is just a matter of planning and making healthy choices.

Coconut Oil

Recently I was listening to a lecture by an Australian naturopath about the benefits of coconut oil which I found most interesting. Like most people, I was always lead to believe that coconut oil is a bad fat because it is saturated and because of this everyone was grouping it in with the fatty fats, like lard and butter.

Coconut oil has been the staple fat for thousands of years in many diets around the world and is used in many products from cosmetics to cooking to oil lamps so is it all bad?
