To weigh or not to weigh? Many of us are scared of the scales and avoid weighing ourselves at all costs. It can lead to disappointment one day excitement the next; actually it is like being on an emotional roller-coaster.
But – don’t throw away those scales just yet.
Face Your Fears
I would strongly encourage you to face your fears and step on those scales. Jumping on the scales not only lets you enjoy your progress as you approach your ideal weight but they also allow you to keep an eye on your weight. Part of the DietDitch program is being honest with yourself – if you have weight to shed you need to fess up and then make your goal accordingly
Many people will find they will go for months without weighing themselves only to find out they have gained 10 pounds. If they had of kept an eye on their weight, number one, this gain would not have been a surprise and, number two, it may have never happened in the first place.
Shedding 2 pounds using the DietDitch program is so much easier than shedding 10.
Have you ever heard yourself saying “oh I don’t need to weigh myself, I can tell by the way my clothes feel.” The truth is you can easily gain 10 pounds before your clothes begin to feel tight. Because you know as well as I do that we are not talking fitted, tailored clothes for many overweight people – it is more likely to be stretchy pants with elastic waists and knit shirts. Better to know sooner rather than later.
What Can Affect Your Scale Weight
Many things can affect your weight measure on the scales. From the time of your monthly cycle, fluid retention, and dehydration, to any meals you have just eaten. I am not advising this is the most accurate way to record your weight loss or gain I’m just saying it’s a great way to keep an eye on your weight. Because you cannot weigh 300 lbs on the scale and tell me it is all muscle unless you are Mr Universe.
The Best Time to Weigh?
I find the best time to weigh yourself is in the morning before breakfast and after going to the toilet with no clothes on. I would recommend you do this once a week or once a fortnight. Friday is the DietDitch day. Friday is the “yes” day.
So be honest – get on the scale, record your weight on a graph, make it measurable and your desires realistic and you will soon find you are achieving your goal. Well done.
